I agree Rockhead, Radio Max would have given these little shits an ass whipping that they would have never forgotton. Your right too that they were punks back in the day and they still haven't grown up. Maybe that's what they needed was a good ass whipping. Apparently they weren't brought up right or they wouldn't be talking trash on people. And that's all it is is trash. Those are the people I don't miss from the neighborhood, in fact it is those kind of people that made me want to leave in the first place.

To the NEW Fairmounter-

I'd like to see what would happen if one of your kids got their asses nearly beat to death over a bag of candy. I'm sure your opinion of these animals would quickly change. Give out candy on the 31st and see what happens.

I'm wondering if anyone remembers the Fairmount Braves little leagu baseball team and the car that my Dad drove us around in? The "Bomb" as it was affectionately called. Had the big Indian head on each of the front doors. Does anyone have a pic of it? My Dad would sure like to see it again. It was a big ol' maroon station wagon. If I'm remembering correctly, the passenger door had to be tied shut with a strap. We'd sure have a lawsuit against us if we tried to do that today, huh?

All this talk about Beatos is making me hungry. You can't find food like that anywhere anymore. Cheesesteaks with fried onions and mayo or those fabulous milkshakes, and sitting in the booths thinking that we were all cool. I miss those days. And how I miss the people and the great food. That's what this site is for to make us remember the great stuff and to make us very hungry. HAHAHA

This is a great place for all fairmounters to reunite. I have great memories of Fairmount and I share the stories of the places and the people with my kids and friends who are not from there. The old neighborhood isn't what it use to be, and it was a very unique piece of Philly. I wish that all the kids living there now, could have the great memories of the neighborhood the way we all did. It was a safe place, it had a closeness about it, and that is sad that it is gone. I hope that some day it will return. At least for the next generation.

I remember Kelly O'D in Beato's as a kid all the time, blond (almost white hair) and a big smile. Being across the street from there gave her easy access to satisfy her fountain soda addiction.

LOL

Gotta take the negative with the positive, just like in life. Fortunately, the good outweigh the bad.

I think we should get together for a hide the belt tourny. Of course now, some of us will run slower, but we can make up for that b/c our belts are also longer.

LOL
