SFX didn't have student chairs. They had desk that were bolted to the floor. In 1st grade the desk were a longer and you sat 2 to a desk. There would be 3 classrooms with 90+ kids to a room. You would open the windows with pole and most of the window would be hanging off their hinge's and you would be praying that the window didn't fall out when you opened it.

I REMEMBER IN FIRST GRADE BACK IN THE DAY IN rOOM #6 SISTER REGINA MARITA WE HAD 60 KIDS IN HER CLASS,SOUND CRAZY BUT I REMEMBER THAT--IMAGINE TRYING TO TEACH 60 SIX YEAR OLD KIDS--WHEW

HELP:

A couple had only been married for two weeks. The husband, although very much in love, couldn’t wait to go out on the town and party with his old buddies. So, he said to his new wife, “Honey, I’ll be right back.”

Where are you going, Coochy Coo?” asked the wife.

“I’m going to the bar, Pretty Face. I’m going to have a beer.”

The wife said, “You want a beer, my love?” She opened the door to the refrigerator and showed him 25 different kinds of beer, brands from 12 different countries: Germany, Holland, Japan, India, etc.

The husband didn’t know what to do, and the only thing that he could think of saying was, “Yes, Lollipop… but at the bar… you know… they have frozen glasses… “

He didn’t get to finish the sentence, because the wife interrupted him by saying, “You want a frozen glass, Puppy Face?” She took a huge beer mug out of the freezer, so frozen that she was getting chills just holding it.

The husband, looking a bit pale, said, “Yes, Tootsie Roll, but at the bar they have those hors d’oeuvres that are really delicious… I won’t be long. I’ll be right back. I promise. OK?”

“You want hors d’oeuvres, Poochie Pooh?” She opened the oven and took out 5 dishes of different hors d’oeuvres: chicken wings, pigs in blankets, mushroom caps, and pork strips.

“But my sweet honey… at the bar…. you know there’s swearing, dirty words and all that…”

“You want dirty words, Cutie Pie?… “LISTEN UP D*CKHEAD! SIT DOWN, SHUT THE F*CK UP, DRINK YOUR GOD DAMN BEER IN YOUR F*CKING FROZEN MUG AND EAT YOUR F*CKING HORS D’OEUVRES BECAUSE YOUR MARRIED ASS ISN’T GOING TO A F*CKING BAR! THAT SH*T IS OVER…GOT IT, AS*HOLE?”

…and, they lived happily ever after. Isn’t that a sweet story.

WAS SHE EVER THE "MAY QUEEN". DOES ANYBODY REMEMBER WHO THEY WERE? We were all in Love with Patsy Rapone. She was beautiful, kind and gentle. As young men we were intimated to be near her, for we were not worthy to be in her presence.

Not only are the desks smaller but how did they fit all the desks in those rooms. I remember those student chairs going across the front and down the aisle near the windows. It didn't feel that crowded. Remember how crowded the schoolyard was - the line were in the yard on the Wallace Street pavement, 24th Street pavement and in the church driveway. Now only a few kids - it looks so empty

i think we all got bigger Bob and everything looks smaller and the enrollment is down in all Catholic schools --it hit its peak in the 1970s and its been downhill ever since...if its Bob ,so many McGinley's were in the neighborhood--especially the crew from 26th street and Jack from Pennock and parrish st.
