remember the real fountain soda's made w/ a few shots of coke syrup? Cherry coke, vanilla coke, chocolate coke?

Wish I had a quarter for every one of those that I made before the soda machine was put in at Beato's.

Who remembers Sonny Scirrotto dressing as Santa Claus & making visits to all of the houses?? It was great, he'd be drunk as hell by the 5-6th house. He was a great guy.

Boo Hare, wasn't her name Janice? And her sisters name Bernie? Wow, Dirty Boyle's, Johnny LaCorte, names from the past. It's so nice to hear these names again. It's kinda like going back in time. Even with all the bickering, ya got to admit, it was a time like no other. It'll never happen again.

Fairmount was ahead of its time. Back in the late 60's, 70's the girls has their own web page in form a copy book. It was called a "Slang Book". The guys could'nt wait to get their hands on them to see what was written about them. Anybody remember signing these books or creating one?

In case no one has noticed, Fairmount no longer exists as we knew it. 80% of the neighborhood was not born nor raised in Fairmount but moved in over the last 10 to 15 years and could care less about our memories of how it use to be. They would prefer that we all left so that Fairmount could become the Art Museum Area once and for all and be thought of with the likes of Society Hill and Rittenhouse Square. So what do we do, we honor the memories of our families and friends, and our childhood, by using this site as a forum to denigrate and disparage other Fairmounters, to insult individual's mothers, to speak ill of the dead, and in the process give legitimacy to the non-Fairmounters argument that this neighborhood would be better without us. They consider us white trash, and from reading the postings on this site, we are giving them more than sufficient support for thier position.

The vast majority of us who grew up in this neighborhood, grew up poor with very little. Somehow, our parents raised us in a way that we never felt like we were poor or that we were lacking anything in life. As a result of our parents, most of us have better lifes than they had and have achieved some form of success. Lets celebrate what Fairmount has given us in life and how it has made us who we are today. By doing this, we honor our parents and our loved ones who have passed. I know it is easier said than done, but if someone wants to make a disparaging remark about another, ignore it. They will eventually go away if ignored.
