The guestbook of Fairmount Online is intended to serve as a place to post your name, contact information, and a message you would like to share with other visitors. The idea is that you sign the guestbook one time. After that, if you wish to communicate with other visitors, please use the Forum. Additionally, some of the posts that have been in the guestbook recently (which I have chosen to delete due to their content) have really been giving the website and the neighborhood of Fairmount a bad name. Please try to refrain from prejudice, stereotyping, and name calling.

I've added a new feature to the website: The Fairmount Online Forum. I've noticed that lots of people who visit the site use the Guest Book as a place to carry on conversations with other visitors and ask questions. I figured a forum/bulletin board section would be a better place for that. Clicking on the "Forum" link on any page will take you to the new Forum. Enjoy!

Hi,

To answer the question about whether I'm a Fairmount native or not:

I am not. I was born in a little town in Illinois called Mahomet. It's just outsidildhood there, and after graduating from the U of I, moved to Philadelphia to be with my (at the time) girlfriend. I moved to Philly in 1994 and Keeya (then girlfriend..now wife) and I bought our house at 2500 Meredith St. in December of 1995.

I really enjoy learning about the history of my house, the neighborhood and Philadellphia. I love talking to the long-time residents of the neighborhood and hearing about "the way it was."

It was, in fact, while researching the neighborhood that I first came across this website. I've popped back in every now and then, and it was on one of those occasions that I read about Bob's needing a new webmaster/host for the site.

I had already made a website for my block (http://meredithstreet.com) and thought it'd be fun to work on Fairmount Online since I knew it was a site frequented by many.

I'm currently working on a forum/bulletin board section for the site that I hope to put into place in the next couple of weeks.

If anyone has suggestions for the site or questions, feel free to contact me via the "Contact" links at the top and bottom of the page.

So long from Fairmount!

Doug, Just curious! Are you a Fairmount Native or just moved in? My Mom was born on Swain St, lived on Taylor and since marriage has lived on 22 street. I will always love Fairmount and St. Nick's!
